How It Started
The Story Behind Otter Wash
Helen didn’t follow a traditional path into the auto detailing industry. Fresh out of high school in 2024, she started by cleaning out the work trucks at a local Two Men and a Truck, the kind of unglamorous, detail-oriented work that most people overlook. It was there that she developed a sharp eye for interior condition, surface prep, and what it actually takes to make a vehicle look and feel brand new.
That early experience sparked something. Helen pursued formal auto detailing training in San Diego, where she studied professional techniques, product application, and the science behind paint correction and protective coatings. She returned to Grand Rapids with a skill set well beyond what most local detailers offer, and Otter Wash was born.
What started as one person with a passion for clean vehicles has grown into one of West Michigan’s most trusted mobile detailing services.
